General Foreman

About the role

As a General Foreman at Chandos, you will act as the right‑hand to the Superintendent, overseeing day‑to‑day field and site‑specific construction activities on commercial projects. You will manage budgets, schedules, performance and profitability while leading the on‑site crew and collaborating closely with the Project Manager and other field staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in directing project activities and providing on‑site leadership.
• Plan, organize and manage construction manpower, materials and equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation such as logbooks, safety records and timesheets.
• Monitor productivity, adjust schedules and resolve issues to keep projects on track.
• Manage subcontractor relationships to ensure scope, timeline and quality compliance.
• Promote sustainable construction practices and minimize environmental impact.
• Run smaller‑scale jobs independently, gaining ownership and hands‑on experience.

Required profile

• Journeyman status with Red Seal certification (commercial tenant improvement or concrete formwork experience is an asset).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction management or a related field.
• Knowledge of fire‑rating systems.
• Ability to work off‑hours and night shifts as required.
• Willingness to undergo pre‑employment physical testing.
