Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead the finance function for a manufacturing organization, ensuring accurate reporting, robust budgeting, and effective risk management. This senior position oversees the accounting team and drives strategic financial planning to support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead weekly and monthly financial reporting, including cash‑flow forecasting and P&L analysis.
• Create and maintain controls and budgets to forecast and mitigate financial risks, highlighting risks and opportunities in weekly reports.
• Oversee the accounting team to ensure accurate processing of AR, AP, and payroll.
• Recommend and implement operating metrics and benchmarks to measure company performance.
• Develop and manage cost accounting systems to assess profitability by job and product line.
• Assist in establishing company targets, employee KPIs, and bonus structures.
• Maintain and enforce documented accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• CPA (CA or CMA) designation is mandatory.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands‑on preparation of financial statements and budgets.
• Proven experience within the manufacturing sector.

Required skills

• Highly proficient in QuickBooks.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive.
• Experience implementing an ERP system (strong asset).
