Director of Development – Faculty of Engineering & Management

About the role

The University Advancement team at McGill University is seeking a senior development professional to lead fundraising initiatives for the Faculty of Engineering and the Desautels Faculty of Management. Reporting to senior UA leadership and working closely with deans and faculty, the Director will shape and execute strategies that secure major gifts and strengthen long‑term philanthropic support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage the overall fundraising strategy for the assigned faculty cohort.
• Design and execute complex major‑gift plans targeting donations of $500,000 or more.
• Collaborate with deans, faculty members and senior university leaders to identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors.
• Lead multidisciplinary fundraising initiatives across faculty cohorts.
• Coordinate with University Advancement Communications to ensure consistent messaging and case statements.
• Oversee the creation and delivery of the faculty case for support.
• Lead strategic gift conversations and manage donor relationships through the pipeline.

Required profile

• Proven experience in major‑gift fundraising, preferably within higher‑education institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work with senior academic leaders and development teams.
• Strong track record of developing and executing fundraising strategies that achieve multi‑year revenue goals.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with donors and internal stakeholders.
