Construction Superintendent – Civil Projects

About the role

Pioneer Construction is seeking a Civil Construction Superintendent to lead daily field operations on civil projects in the Kenora, Ontario area. This hands‑on position coordinates crews, manages site activities and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently and to project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee every phase of civil construction projects from inception to completion, coordinating all stakeholders to maintain productivity and efficiency.
• Lead, train and supervise on‑site workforce, including recruiting and hiring employees.
• Serve as primary liaison between Project Manager, Site Foreman and clients, attending meetings and providing progress updates.
• Resolve day‑to‑day site issues and anticipate future challenges related to schedule, materials and construction methods.
• Maintain accurate daily diaries, timesheets, inspections and work orders while ensuring safety standards are met.
• Prepare progress payment documentation, schedule updates and report quantities, extras and changes to the Project Manager.
• Travel to job sites across Northern Ontario, including occasional overnight assignments, and work in various weather conditions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction technology or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in the civil construction industry.
• Proven leadership or managerial experience on construction sites.
• Valid G‑class driver’s licence.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
