Senior Estimator

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Pre‑Construction & Estimating, the Senior Estimator is responsible for calculating major construction cost estimates, planning, developing, negotiating, and executing contracts. Based in Vancouver, BC, this position leads the estimating process and tender closings for a variety of institutional, commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review plans and specifications, identify discrepancies, and organize documents for sub‑trade distribution.
• Prepare and present Class D‑A budgets in divisional or elemental format and lead client and consultant interactions.
• Solicit bidders, manage pre‑bid forms, and conduct follow‑up to ensure successful tender outcomes.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, handle RFIs, and perform detailed costing of self‑perform scopes.
• Lead sub‑trade review meetings, maintain strong trade relationships, and complete post‑project cost analysis.

Required profile

• Engineering or Construction Management degree (or equivalent technical training).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in institutional, commercial, or industrial construction.
• Proven ability to manage tender closings and lead estimating teams.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to train junior staff and work collaboratively with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
