Chief of Security

About the role

The Department of Highways and Public Works is seeking a senior security professional to lead the Asset Security program for all government‑owned facilities across Yukon. Reporting to senior management, the Chief of Security will ensure that security policies, procedures, and systems protect our infrastructure while supporting the department’s mission of safety, innovation, and teamwork.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day delivery of security programs for all government facilities.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Collaborate with internal clients and external stakeholders to align security objectives with departmental goals.
• Oversee a 24/7 security operation, including staff scheduling and supervision.
• Conduct regular assessments of security software, access‑control, and monitoring systems.
• Support building‑infrastructure operations, including mechanical and related systems.
• Handle contracts related to security services and equipment.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising and scheduling staff in a 24/7 environment.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent client‑service orientation and analytical decision‑making.
