Chief Engineer – Small Vessel Fleet

About the role

The Chief Engineer will lead the engineering function for the Small Vessel Fleet, ensuring safe and efficient operation of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems while complying with maritime regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assume full responsibility for operation, maintenance and repair of all machinery and equipment on the vessel.
• Monitor and optimise performance of propulsion, power generation, HVAC, plumbing and auxiliary systems.
• Implement preventive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and maximise reliability.
• Enforce safety protocols, conduct inspections and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
• Develop and manage the engineering budget, monitor expenses and maintain inventory of spare parts.
• Maintain accurate engineering logs, records and reports, and liaise with classification societies and auditors.

Required profile

• First Class Engineer certification on motor ships.
• 3‑5 years experience as a Chief Engineer or in a similar maritime engineering role.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing prior to hiring and during employment.
