Chief Engineer – Floatel (Rotational)

About the role

The Chief Engineer will lead the engineering department on a floatel operating alongside Squamish, BC. This senior position is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems on board.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee operation, maintenance and repair of propulsion, power generation, HVAC, plumbing and auxiliary systems.
• Implement preventive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and maximise reliability.
• Enforce safety protocols, conduct inspections and ensure compliance with maritime regulations and industry standards.
• Lead recruitment, training, performance evaluation and day‑to‑day supervision of engineering staff.
• Develop and manage the engineering budget, monitor expenses and control inventory of spare parts and tools.

Required profile

• STCW Reg. III/2 chief engineer officer certification for vessels with ≥3,000 kW propulsion power.
• 3‑5 years experience as a Chief Engineer or equivalent on marine vessels or floatels.
• STCW safety, survival craft, advanced firefighting, security and crisis‑management certifications.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing prior to hiring.
