Camps Coordinator – Athletics & Recreation

About the role

The Camps Coordinator oversees the day‑to‑day operations of UBC Camps, a year‑round youth programming initiative within the Department of Athletics & Recreation. Reporting to the Director, Intramurals and Recreation, the role plans, implements and evaluates camp programs to ensure safe, customer‑focused, profitable and accessible delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead program preparation, including creating camp schedules, facility bookings, transportation, staffing and marketing materials.
• Manage program delivery: monitor registrations, process refunds, respond to inquiries, oversee participant sign‑in/out and purchase equipment.
• Recruit, hire, schedule, train, supervise and evaluate part‑time camp instructors and staff.
• Coordinate camp administration tasks such as consent forms, budget monitoring, cash handling, payment processing and payroll.
• Develop and implement program evaluations, track participation trends and produce annual recommendations.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Education, Recreation Management).
• Minimum five years of related experience, including experience working with children in a recreational setting.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and ability to obtain a valid criminal record check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using WordPress and class registration software.
