Automotive Paint Technician

About the role

The Aviva AutoCare Centre, a brand-new collision repair facility in Mississauga, is looking for an Automotive Paint Technician. The technician is responsible for applying body paint, operating paint machines and tools and using paint mixes according to automotive engineering specifications, painting procedures and standards.

Key responsibilities

• De-grease, remove dirt, old paint or rust from vehicle surfaces before painting
• Mix paint pigments to match colour specifications or the vehicle's original colours
• Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and mixes for proper flow and coating thickness
• Operate automated body paint systems for various vehicle types
• Keep painting efficient and cost-effective, and help develop new paint processes
• Monitor operations to find and fix flaws such as blisters and streaks, and keep repairs flowing through the workshop
• Work as a team member focused on the customer, keeping vehicles out for as little time as possible
• Maintain clean work areas and follow all safety procedures, including PPE

Required profile

• 5 years or more of experience as a paint technician in the automotive repair industry
• Red Seal Automotive Painter (410N) or an active apprenticeship registration is an asset
• Strong knowledge of automotive refinishing and repair practices
• Adaptable, proactive, detail-oriented with a quality-control focus, and able to handle pressure
