Athletic Therapist & Human Performance Lead

About the role

The Athletic Therapist/Human Performance Lead provides on‑field medical coverage and direct therapy services to varsity student‑athletes at UBC. The role blends clinical athletic therapy with strength and conditioning leadership, ensuring athletes receive comprehensive injury prevention, treatment, and performance support.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver athletic therapy services, assess and treat acute musculoskeletal injuries, and design individualized rehabilitation programs.
• Collaborate with the Integrated Support Team—including sports medicine physicians, physiotherapists, dietitians, and mental performance coaches—to make informed return‑to‑play decisions.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate strength and conditioning programs for all varsity teams in partnership with head coaches and the Head Therapist.
• Supervise and mentor strength‑and‑conditioning interns and student athletic trainers, providing ongoing education and supervision.
• Maintain the 1,200‑square‑foot varsity training facility, ensuring equipment safety and availability.

Required profile

• Professional certification in athletic therapy or a related field.
• Experience working with varsity or high‑performance athletes.
• Strong knowledge of injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation protocols.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with coaches and medical staff.
