Assignment Coordinator – Student Housing

About the role

The Assignment Coordinator supports UBC’s Student Housing by overseeing the allocation of residence offers and room assignments across all campus housing properties. Working within the Residence Admissions and Assignments team, the role ensures optimal occupancy while prioritising accessibility needs and other priority groups.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the full cycle of room assignments and residence offers, giving priority to students with accessibility requirements, vulnerable populations and other designated groups.
• Review and act on Centre for Accessibility recommendations, collaborating with advisors to meet accessibility housing needs.
• Manage transfer, cancellation and out‑of‑term move requests, continuously improving related processes.
• Provide accurate information and guidance on residence admissions policies, eligibility and contract periods to prospective and current residents, parents and guardians.
• Investigate eligibility violations and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Respond to complex inquiries and support stakeholders across the university.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and analytical abilities with a focus on process optimisation.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, families and internal partners.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Student Housing Database and related administrative software.
