Airport Design Specialist

About the role

The Airport Design Specialist will lead the upkeep and evolution of Calgary Airports’ thematic plans, design standards, and technical specifications. You will ensure that all design initiatives align with organizational goals, industry best practices, and the airport’s long‑term vision.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and advance thematic design initiatives such as terminal zones, concourses, and material/finish standards.
• Review project designs, drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance with established standards.
• Provide design governance and technical expertise during planning and early design phases.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to align design intent and standards.
• Participate in design coordination and site meetings to resolve design‑related issues.
• Guide material, finish, and user‑experience consistency across infrastructure projects.
• Manage material samples and technical reference documentation for internal design governance.

Required profile

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a RAIC (support provided).
• 6–8 years of experience in architectural design, interior design, or design standards development for large‑scale infrastructure.
• Degree in Architecture or a related field.
