Accountant – Financial Reporting & General Ledger

About the role

Qualico is seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to join its finance team in Edmonton. Reporting to the Regional Controller, you will manage the full‑cycle accounting activities for assigned companies, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Post journal entries in collaboration with accounts payable, construction, and accounting teams.
• Maintain the general ledger, prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations, and resolve variances.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure financial records comply with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
• Improve and document accounting workflows, reducing manual effort and increasing data confidence.
• Standardize accounting practices across the organization.
• Assist with year‑end reviews, forecasting, and budget preparation.
• Provide support for additional accounting‑related tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of full‑cycle accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
• Organized with strong time‑management skills.
• Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
• Active listener and collaborative team player.
• Clear criminal record check.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
• Experience using accounting software such as NewStar or a comparable system.
