About the role
The Dental Clinic Receptionist provides front‑line administrative support for the Main Dental Clinic at UBC, serving 200‑300 patients daily. Reporting to the Clinic Administrator, the role works closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Key responsibilities
- Guide students on dental plans, pre‑determination procedures, and reimbursement processes.
- Liaise with dental insurance carriers, verify, print, and submit claim forms, and resolve claim issues.
- Allocate and reconcile payments in patient records from insurance remittances.
- Respond to telephone and in‑person inquiries about treatment programs, billing, and charges.
- Schedule routine and urgent care appointments, assign students to urgent cases, and confirm daily bookings.
- Process daily patient payments (cash, cheque, credit card, direct deposit), issue receipts, and prepare deposits.
- Contact patients regarding outstanding balances or NSF cheques and follow up to secure payment.
Required profile
- Experience in a dental or medical reception environment.
- Familiarity with dental insurance processes and claim submission.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, students, faculty, and insurance representatives.
