About the role
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer for the Winter 2027 term to teach MECH 532 – Aircraft Performance, Stability and Control. The appointment runs from January 5 to April 30, 2027, with a remuneration of $11,824 per course. Teaching will take place onsite in the Macdonald Engineering Building.
Key responsibilities
- Cover all material in the course outline, including aircraft performance criteria such as range, endurance, rate of climb and maximum ceiling.
- Teach landing and take‑off distance calculations.
- Explain static and dynamic stability in longitudinal, lateral and directional modes, both stick‑fixed and stick‑free.
- Demonstrate control response for all three flight modes.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Research or work experience in aircraft dynamics and control is preferred.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work across cultures.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and a flexible teaching approach.
