Accountant – AP, General Accounting & Financial Analysis

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to manage accounts payable, support financial analysis, and assist with payroll and accounts receivable functions. The role works closely with vendors, internal teams, and senior finance leaders to ensure accurate recording and timely processing of transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Code and process all accounts payable transactions, ensuring proper cost allocation.
• Prepare, match, and submit payments for invoice approval; file paid invoices appropriately.
• Liaise with vendors and staff to obtain supporting documentation and respond to payment inquiries.
• Review and reconcile credit‑card payments, maintaining supporting records.
• Prepare and review financial results, perform variance analysis, and explain key drivers.
• Analyze operational data trends and provide insights to the Senior Accountant and VP of Finance.
• Support job‑closing, costing analysis, and accounts receivable activities (bank deposits, cash application, collections).
• Cross‑train on hourly payroll processing and perform ad‑hoc duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA enrollment is an asset.
• 3‑5+ years of experience in accounts payable, general accounting, or financial analysis.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret data, identify trends, and present clear financial insights.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of ASPE/GAAP and cost‑accounting principles is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency, including handling large data sets.
• Experience with EPICOR accounting software (asset).

What we offer

• Competitive salary range of $70,000 – $72,000 CAD per year.
