Financial Controller

About the role

The Controller will lead MGI's accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial management across the organization. This role combines hands‑on accounting work with supervisory responsibilities, supporting both day‑to‑day operations and strategic financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the accounting department, including accountants, credit, payroll, and tax managers.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations, HST filings, and reconcile related‑party accounts.
• Prepare and update weekly cash‑flow statements and ensure accurate cash management.
• Assist in the preparation of all required government reports and remittances.
• Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and report risk issues to management.
• Oversee year‑end activities: GL account reconciliation, binder preparation, documentation, review engagements, and tax‑return assistance.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary certificate, degree or diploma in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience supervising accounting staff and managing financial reporting cycles.
