Intern Architect

About the role

Stantec’s Buildings team is looking for an Intern Architect to join a collaborative design environment. You will work alongside experienced architects to develop plans, elevations, sections, 3D renderings and detailed architectural documentation for a variety of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design concepts through sketches and electronic models for small to medium‑size projects.
• Utilize BIM technologies to create three‑dimensional building models.
• Participate in design critiques, pin‑ups and project coordination meetings.
• Interpret and apply building codes and accessibility regulations.
• Prepare and revise documentation across all architectural phases, including bidding, addenda, shop drawing reviews and RFI responses.
• Produce site observation reports and assist with specification coordination.
• Follow quality control procedures and conduct QA/QC on assigned work.

Required profile

• Knowledge of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
• Understanding of building construction systems, materials and industry standards.
• Familiarity with all phases of architectural document production.
• Ability to conduct space planning in line with program requirements.
• Detail‑oriented with a self‑critical approach to accuracy and completeness.

Required skills

• Proficiency with BIM technology.
• Experience creating 2D and 3D architectural models.
• Ability to interpret building codes and regulatory requirements.
