Tax Accountant

About the role

The Tax Accountant reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing corporate accounting processes, and ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations. This position supports the company’s financial integrity, contributes to tax planning and reporting, and provides insights for strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, journal entries, and monthly reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE or IFRS.
• Perform variance and trend analysis to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Support corporate tax filings, including corporate income tax and sales tax (GST/HST/QST) workpapers.
• Monitor federal and provincial tax law changes and assist with audits.
• Contribute to tax‑planning initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
• Help prepare the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and cash‑flow projections.
• Implement and monitor internal controls and coordinate with external auditors.
• Document accounting procedures and develop standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• CPA designation preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or multi‑entity environment.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS) and corporate taxation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; French or Chinese is an asset.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
