System Administrator, Technical Services, Identity and Access Management (IAM)

About the role

The Identity and Access Management (IAM) team at Shopify ensures employees have the right technology to work securely. As a System Administrator you will maintain and enhance the systems that manage identities across internal Shopify resources, supporting employees, contractors, auditors and service accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Manage user groups, rules and workflows in Okta and Google Workspace.
• Configure applications for Single Sign‑On (SSO) and maintain authentication integrations.
• Collaborate with IT, Talent Technology and Security teams to optimise IAM processes.
• Respond to employee help requests via Slack and the Helpdesk ticketing system.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve team efficiency.
• Write end‑user documentation for IAM tools and processes.
• Participate in on‑call rotation for incident response and disruption handling.

Required profile

• Experience managing corporate identities and configuring new services with SSO.
• Familiarity with cloud identity providers such as Okta and Google Workspace.
• Working knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID).
• Experience handling a ticket queue in an IT Service Desk environment.
• Ability to work remotely while collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders.
