Software Developer – Research & Engineering

About the role

Electronic Arts is looking for a Software Developer to join its Research & Engineering team. You will work at the intersection of research and production, helping to integrate emerging technologies such as AI‑assisted creation and procedural systems into a world‑class game engine used by millions of players.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with engine developers to integrate creator‑focused systems into the core engine architecture, enabling generative creation workflows.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to translate prototypes into production‑ready engine features while ensuring alignment with existing systems.
• Focus on improving a single engine domain, such as tools, data pipelines, or runtime systems.
• Design extensible interfaces under senior guidance to allow rapid iteration on new technologies and make sound architectural decisions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with AAA game engines (e.g., Frostbite, Unreal) or comparable large‑scale real‑time systems.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and software design patterns for large‑scale environments.
• Ability to become productive quickly in tools, pipeline, or runtime systems.
• Proven collaboration skills within large code bases and under direction.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab.
