Senior Early Childhood Educator – Casual

About the role

BGC Okanagan is hiring a casual Senior Early Childhood Educator at various Vernon area clubs. The role involves welcoming children and families, planning and delivering developmentally appropriate activities, and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Welcomes new children and families, ensuring enrolment, medical, emergency, dietary, and parental forms meet licensing requirements.
• Plans, carries out and evaluates age‑appropriate activities, creating daily schedules that balance indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, individual and group experiences.
• Ensures all activities comply with BGC Okanagan policies and childcare licensing regulations.
• Identifies children’s abilities, interests and needs, developing individualized and group curriculum and recommending referrals to specialists when needed.
• Maintains records, care plans and statistics, reporting on progress, behaviours and issues, including for children with disabilities.
• Models developmentally appropriate activities and positive guidance techniques for children and team members.
• Attends to physical needs such as diapering, toileting and feeding.
• Administers first aid and medication according to policy.
• Maintains a healthy, safe, culturally and developmentally appropriate environment, removing hazards.
• Establishes positive communication with parents/guardians, sharing children’s growth and inviting their input.

Required profile

• Early Childhood Education Certificate with a current License to Practice.
• At least two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Successful completion of the agency screening process, including a clear criminal record check.
