About the role

Join BGC Okanagan as a Senior Program Leader! BGC Okanagan is seeking a part‑time Senior Program Leader to join our After School Program at the Mission Hill Elementary Club in Vernon, BC. In this leadership role, you will oversee the day‑to‑day delivery of the program while supervising, mentoring, and supporting staff and children.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the assigned program, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating plans to meet the needs of children, youth, and families.
• Act as the Licensed Manager to ensure all activities comply with Child Care Licensing Regulations.
• Supervise, mentor, and guide activity leaders and other staff members.
• Provide direction, performance feedback, and discipline for staff and volunteers; address workplace issues and resolve disputes.
• Create and distribute a program activity calendar for members and families.
• Deliver group and individual behaviour management and support.
• Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, and discipline of staff and volunteers.
• Maintain accurate program and member records while prioritising confidentiality.

Required profile

• Diploma, certificate, or at least 20 hours of coursework in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition (required for licensed programs).
• One year of recent experience working with children or youth in recreation, education, or social services.
• Valid First Aid and Food Safe certificates.
• Class 4 driver’s licence or willingness to obtain one.
• At least 19 years of age as required by licensing regulations.
• Successful completion of agency screening, including a criminal record check.
