Research Assistant – Movement Disorder Studies

About the role

The Appel‑Cresswell Lab at the UBC Pacific Parkinson's Research Centre is seeking a full‑time Research Assistant to support movement‑disorder studies, primarily focused on Parkinson's disease. You will work on clinical trials and investigator‑initiated studies, interacting directly with participants and the research team.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit and screen participants using electronic medical records and telephone interviews.
• Conduct onsite study visits, administer rating scales, perform cognitive testing, and collect biological samples.
• Enter and manage data, ensure accurate shipment of samples, and maintain study documentation.
• Assist with study ethics submissions and routine administrative tasks.
• Provide coverage for other lab projects as needed and attend weekly team meetings.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in clinical research, especially in neurology or movement disorders.
• Ability to work independently following study protocols and GCP guidelines.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to confidentiality.
• Willingness to work onsite in Vancouver and interact frequently with participants.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EMR systems for participant recruitment.
• Data entry and management skills.
• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and TCPS‑2 guidelines.
