People Operations Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a highly organized and execution‑driven People Operations Specialist to join our Toronto office. In this role you will own payroll, benefits, employee support and HR administration while helping to scale our People Operations function across Canada and the US.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑level employee relations support, interpreting policies and resolving issues.
• Partner with Workplace Experience Manager to ensure a smooth employee lifecycle.
• Assist managers on performance and employee‑relations matters.
• Own payroll processing and validation for Canada and the US, including timecards, new hires, terminations and bonuses.
• Manage year‑end payroll activities, preparing T4s for Canada and coordinating W‑2 issuance with the US PEO.
• Administer benefits programs, handling enrollments, changes, terminations and employee inquiries.
• Maintain compliance with federal, provincial/state and local payroll regulations.
• Drive high‑volume HR lifecycle processes such as onboarding, off‑boarding and leave administration.
• Keep employee data accurate across the HR tech stack (HiBob, Justworks, Payworks).

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience in Human Resources or People Operations within a fast‑paced environment.
• Hands‑on experience with payroll and benefits administration in both Canada and the United States (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, processes and North‑American compliance requirements.
• High‑ownership mindset, ability to work independently and move tasks forward with urgency.
