Independent Board Director – Energy Utility

About the role

Alectra Inc., Canada’s largest municipally owned electric utility, is seeking an Independent Board Director to help shape the future of energy in Ontario’s Greater Golden Horseshoe. This senior governance role will involve strategic oversight, risk management, and fiduciary responsibility for a diverse customer base.

Key responsibilities

• Set Alectra’s strategic direction as one of 14 board members.
• Provide oversight of operations and monitor key organizational risks.
• Serve on two board committees, including potential chairmanship of the People & Safety Committee.
• Attend at least six board meetings and 20‑25 committee meetings annually.
• Uphold statutory and fiduciary duties, acting honestly and in the best interests of the organization.

Required profile

• Senior executive or board‑level experience in governance, regulatory affairs, strategic human resources, or the energy sector.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or chair boards or committees.
• Strong orientation toward technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
• Residency or work presence in Vaughan preferred.
