Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for a network of over 400 restaurant locations across North America. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will lead a team, improve accounting processes, and support both internal stakeholders and external auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, balance‑sheet schedules, and P&L reports for all restaurant units.
• Lead, coach, and develop direct and indirect reports through one‑on‑one and group sessions.
• Manage Sage 300 and Blackline systems, including new store, employee, and GL account setups.
• Coordinate year‑end closing, audit working papers, and quarterly reporting for lenders.
• Oversee sales‑tax filing in Canada and the US and approve Blackline reconciliations.
• Analyze G&A costs, recommend cost‑saving measures, and support acquisitions and real‑estate transactions.

Required profile

• CPA designation (or CA, CGA, CMA legacy).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an intermediate or senior finance role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and ASPE standards.
• Prior managerial or coaching experience preferred.
