Engineering Manager – User Profile (Backend)

About the role

StackAdapt is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the User Profile backend team. You will own the design and delivery of low‑latency, high‑throughput services that power audience building and bidding workflows for a global advertising platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a backend engineering team focused on user and audience data.
• Drive complex, cross‑team initiatives across multiple domains.
• Design and own scalable, low‑latency backend systems and data pipelines.
• Mentor engineers, promote best practices, and conduct code reviews.
• Establish and evolve development processes using Scrum or Kanban.
• Own the technical roadmap and software delivery for the team.
• Interview, hire, and manage 3–10 direct reports.
• Collaborate with product, project management, and compliance stakeholders.

Required profile

• 2+ years of people management or mentorship experience.
• 5+ years of backend development in distributed systems, microservices, and data pipelines.
• Hands‑on leadership experience managing 3–10 engineers.
• Experience in a high‑growth technology environment (preferred).
• Familiarity with modern development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

Required skills

• Golang (preferred) or Java, Kotlin, C++.
• AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, ScyllaDB.
• Design of distributed systems and microservices.
• Building high‑throughput data pipelines.
