About the role

The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is seeking a Software Engineer Co‑op for the Fall 2026 term to join its Enterprise Solutions team. You will support internal business clients by assisting in the planning, development, and maintenance of a portfolio of vendor‑ and web‑based applications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide analytical and programming support for new application development and enhancements of existing custom, hosted, and packaged solutions.
• Resolve day‑to‑day issues on complex systems across multiple platforms.
• Research and define design specifications together with business representatives.
• Present system solutions verbally and in documentation to obtain client consensus.
• Translate user requirements into technical specifications and recommend improvements.
• Engage with vendors to address operational needs and participate in change‑control processes for software releases and upgrades.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree program.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with business users and vendors.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a technology team.
