Contract Accountant – Metal Fabrication (2‑month)

About the role

We are seeking a Contract Accountant to support a metal‑fabrication company in Vancouver for a two‑month term. The role will ensure payroll, accounts payable and reconciliations continue smoothly while the finance lead is on leave.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounts payable, entering vendor invoices and preparing payment batches.
• Process monthly payroll for employees and contractors, guaranteeing accurate and timely payments.
• Reconcile bank and credit‑card accounts to keep financial data current.
• Review expense coding, obtain approvals and resolve missing information.
• Record operational spending across multiple entities within a centralized finance structure.
• Maintain documentation for high‑volume purchases and invoices.
• Assist in transitioning payroll and purchasing activities in‑house.
• Collaborate with the departing finance lead for a seamless handover.

Required profile

• Proven experience in accounting with strong exposure to accounts payable, payroll and reconciliations.
• Ability to process high‑volume invoices accurately and stay organized.
• Detail‑oriented with consistent follow‑up for approvals.
• Familiarity with Canadian and international banking/payment platforms.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Online
• Intermediate to advanced Excel
• Experience with ERP platforms (e.g., Concur) or similar finance systems
