Casual Appointments Clerk – Medical Imaging

About the role

The Appointments Clerk provides essential front‑line support for a busy medical imaging department, handling patient scheduling, reception duties and administrative tasks in a hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule patients for a variety of medical imaging procedures and exams.
• Perform telephone and reception duties at primary public and workroom locations.
• Greet, receive, instruct and direct patients, relatives, visitors and hospital staff.
• Obtain patient demographics and billing information (OHN or third‑party) as required.
• Follow up with scheduling contacts, nursing personnel, physicians and others to resolve missing information or scheduling errors.
• Assist designated personnel with verbal or STAT result requests.
• Handle filing, sorting and faxing of reports as needed.
• Enter data into relevant information systems and perform other clerical duties.

Required profile

• OSSGD or equivalent as recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
• Post‑secondary job‑related course and recent related experience preferred.
• Medical imaging experience is an asset.
• Understanding of medical implications related to scheduling procedures and exams.
• Strong organizational, time‑management and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and excellent customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute with a maximum 5% error rate (or 106 keystrokes per minute).
• Familiarity with medical and radiology terminology is an asset.
