Automatic Door Technician – Service & Installation

About the role

The Automatic Door Technician provides on‑site service, repair, and installation of automatic pedestrian entrance systems for a variety of Canadian institutions. The role requires strong technical knowledge, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to respond quickly to client needs.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to client sites to repair, configure, clean, lubricate, or replace automatic door components.
• Make recommendations for component or unit replacement in consultation with senior technicians.
• Document parts used, time on site, and product functionality via mobile software.
• Install automatic doors, operators, and associated glass assemblies.
• Maintain inventory accuracy on the service vehicle and ensure safe work practices.
• Perform after‑hour service and overnight installations on a rotational on‑call basis.
• Conduct safety inspections to meet AAADM standards and review project documentation for compliance.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians and assist with building‑code requirements.

Required profile

• Ability to visualize and deconstruct multiple components to assemble/disassemble complete units with minimal error.
• Strong knowledge of low‑voltage electrical motors, wiring, and related components.
• Familiarity with building‑code requirements and AAADM safety standards.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools (drills, caulking guns, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.).
• Use of mobile applications for programming entrance systems and logging service requests.
• Blueprint reading and technical documentation interpretation.
• Low‑voltage electrical motor and wiring expertise.
• Knowledge of AAADM safety standards and building‑code compliance.
