About the role
Seabird Island is seeking two Youth and Young Adults Connections Specialists to deliver culturally informed programming for high‑risk female and male youth and young adults. Working under the Youth and Young Adults Program Manager, you will create safe, supportive environments that promote growth, recreation, and family connections.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement culturally relevant programs focused on positive reinforcement, recreation, and wellness.
- Plan and lead group activities such as sports, outdoor recreation, team‑building exercises, and wellness workshops.
- Integrate First Nations cultural teachings, including drumming and traditional storytelling, into all programming.
- Organise life‑skills training to support healthy relationships, emotional regulation, and self‑esteem.
- Provide one‑on‑one mentorship, create personalized action plans, and connect participants with counseling, employment, or academic resources.
- Build trusting relationships with families, facilitate family sessions, and coordinate outreach to engage disengaged youth.
- Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community leaders to enhance cultural learning.

- Term contract ending March 30, 2027 with possible extension.
- Four afternoon/evening workdays plus one weekend day.
