WordPress Architect

About the role

Evolving Web is seeking a senior WordPress Architect to lead the design and delivery of high‑impact web solutions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of developers, designers, project managers and clients to build accessible, scalable websites and applications.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with developers, designers and project managers to define technical solutions.
• Scope and architect WordPress projects for enterprise‑level clients.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications and scope documents for internal and client use.
• Advise and guide teams to achieve measurable results while meeting timelines and budgets.
• Take ownership of project success, ensuring requirements, performance and security standards are met.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Proven technical leadership on large‑scale, enterprise projects.
• Active involvement in the WordPress community (core contributions, plugins, meetups, WordCamps).
• Strong curiosity about the latest WordPress ecosystem developments, especially Gutenberg.
• Ability to maintain a high‑level view of projects while understanding detailed implementation tasks.

Required skills

• Modern WordPress expertise – block editor and block themes.
• Core web technologies: HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL.
• Build tools and package managers: NPM, Webpack.
• Containerisation and DevOps: Docker, GitLab CI/CD.
• Managed WordPress hosting platforms such as Pantheon and WP VIP.
• Performance optimisation and scalability techniques.
• Web application security best practices for WordPress.
• Automated testing strategies, including test‑driven development.
