About the role
Our client, a profitable Series B+ software company backed by tier‑1 investors, is seeking a founding HR & People Operations leader for its Toronto office. As the first dedicated People hire, you will design, build and run the HR function from the ground up, working closely with the executive team.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement an end‑to‑end People strategy aligned with fast‑moving business priorities.
- Develop core HR programs including onboarding, performance management, compensation, engagement and career development.
- Coach and advise senior leadership on talent, retention and organisational change.
- Select, configure and manage HR systems such as ATS, HRIS, payroll and benefits platforms.
- Ensure compliance, maintain workforce data integrity and prepare for audits.
Required profile
- 7–12+ years of experience in HR Business Partner or People Operations roles, preferably in high‑growth technology companies.
- Proven track record of building HR functions from scratch.
- Strong executive presence and comfort partnering with senior leadership.
- Data‑driven, operationally sharp and calm under pressure.
- Based in Toronto and able to work on‑site five days a week.
