VP Corporate Controller

About the role

Jefferies Financial Group Inc. is seeking a Vice President, Corporate Controller to serve as the lead finance business partner for its Canadian operations. The role supports the Canada CFO & Treasurer, overseeing finance, regulatory reporting, tax and treasury functions while ensuring compliance with IFRS and CIRO standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and CIRO rules.
• Perform detailed financial statement reviews, tie‑outs, and variance analysis against budget.
• Act as primary liaison for internal and external audit processes, preparing working papers and documentation.
• Oversee preparation of direct and indirect tax provisions with external consultants.
• Support corporate finance, treasury, and tax matters across Canada, coordinating with accounting policy and reporting groups.
• Ensure internal controls are designed and operating effectively for finance, tax, and treasury functions.
• Mentor and develop the finance team, promoting continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Qualified Accountant (CPA or equivalent).
• 8‑10+ years of accounting/finance experience in broker‑dealer, banking, or capital markets environments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, capable of interacting with senior management.
