Vocational Counsellor (Casual)

About the role

The Vocational Counsellor provides support to adults with developmental disabilities, helping them explore and develop vocational interests. Working on a casual basis, the role involves planning and delivering training in a variety of work settings to meet vocational, social and daily‑living goals.

Key responsibilities

• Support adults with developmental disabilities to explore vocational interests.
• Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate training plans across diverse work settings.
• Deliver one‑on‑one and group activities that build job readiness, vocational skills and on‑the‑job training.
• Provide evening and weekend support as required by client needs.
• Maintain a moderate level of physical fitness to perform activity‑based tasks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to teach skills, provide individual client support and lead groups.
• Knowledge of community‑living theory, values and practices.
• Effective interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities.
• Competent computer skills, preferably with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong time‑management and general organisational skills.

Required skills

• Diploma in Human or Social Services field or equivalent experience.
• WCB‑approved First Aid and CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s licence and personal vehicle.
• Minimum three months experience delivering similar vocational counselling services.
