Pool Coordinator – Aquatics Services

About the role

The Pool Coordinator supports the Town of Whitby’s Aquatics Services by ensuring safe, high‑quality swimming experiences for the community. Reporting to the Supervisor of Aquatics Services, the role blends staff training, safety supervision, and public interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Train staff in Lifesaving Society instructional standards and emergency procedures.
• Supervise safety for instructional programs, public swims, and pool rentals.
• Respond to patron inquiries, resolve issues, and provide public education.
• Instruct and examine leadership courses for lifeguard staff.
• Open and secure the facility, ensuring all users have safely left the premises.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings, training sessions, and assist with coverage for sick calls.
• Support administration and programming tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum six months of related experience.
• Current certifications: Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor, Lifesaving and Emergency First Aid Instructor, Advanced Instructor and Examiner, National Lifeguard Service (Pool), Standard First Aid, CPR Level C.
• Physical fitness meeting certification requirements.
• Working knowledge of Ontario Department of Health Pool Regulations.
• Leadership experience supervising part‑time staff and a satisfactory police record check.
