Utility Operator – Civil Construction

About the role

Canoco is looking for an experienced Utility Operator to join its Civil Division. The role supports underground utility installation and civil infrastructure projects, requiring a strong focus on safety and reliable equipment operation.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators, backhoes, skid steers, dozers and other utility construction equipment.
• Follow site plans, utility locates and project specifications with precision.
• Perform trenching, expose existing utilities, and complete backfilling and compaction work.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and crew to meet project timelines while complying with safety regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a utility operator in civil construction or underground utility installation.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Strong understanding of underground utilities, trenching practices and safe digging techniques.
• Flexibility to work extended hours and shift rotations as required.
