USMLE Step 1 Online Tutor

About the role

We are seeking experienced USMLE Step 1 tutors to join the Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform. As an online tutor you will help medical students nationwide prepare for the Step 1 exam, delivering personalized instruction from the comfort of your home.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct 1‑on‑1 live tutoring sessions and on‑demand “instant” tutoring via the platform.
• Use the AI‑powered Tutor Copilot to generate lesson materials and provide real‑time instructional support.
• Tailor study plans using First Aid, Pathoma, UWorld and spaced‑repetition techniques.
• Invoice completed sessions and receive payment up to twice per week.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt instruction to individual learning styles.

Required profile

• Deep mastery of USMLE Step 1 content across basic sciences and clinical integration.
• Proven ability to teach test‑taking strategies, vignette analysis and high‑yield concept linking.
• Familiarity with common study resources (First Aid, Pathoma, UWorld) and adaptive teaching methods.
• Excellent communication skills and an engaging, friendly teaching style.

Required skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, physiology, pathology, microbiology, immunology, anatomy, histology, behavioral sciences and biostatistics.
• Ability to explain disease mechanisms, drug actions and pathological processes.
