Undergraduate Student Support – Design Programs

About the role

The School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture (SALA) at UBC is seeking an Undergraduate Student Support professional to assist prospective and current students in its Bachelor of Design programs. This fixed‑term position provides front‑line advising, reception, and administrative support while contributing to recruitment and event activities.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for undergraduate students via inboxes, phone, and in‑person visits.
• Manage reception duties for the SALA MCML office, including A/V equipment sign‑out, room bookings, mail processing, and petty‑cash handling.
• Advise students on degree requirements, promotion criteria, and official calendar policies.
• Determine eligibility for course registration and guide students through scheduling and enrollment issues.
• Support recruitment, admissions, and event planning, working flexible hours during special events.
• Maintain accurate records and provide routine administrative support to the Undergraduate Student Services Coordinator.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for handling multiple student inquiries.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex academic policies clearly.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends during events.
