Truck Driver – Route Planning & Cargo Safety

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Truck Driver to join our logistics team. You will be responsible for transporting goods safely while optimizing routes to reduce fuel use and emissions. The role is based at our depot and requires on‑site presence.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and adjust delivery routes using computer systems and GPS to minimise fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
• Load, secure, and unload cargo, including tarping to protect goods.
• Operate straight‑through and articulated trucks to move materials to designated locations.
• Inspect vehicle condition daily – tires, lights, brakes, cold‑storage units and other equipment.
• Perform brake adjustments, preventive maintenance and emergency roadside repairs.
• Conduct pre‑trip, en‑route and post‑trip inspections and ensure all paperwork is completed.
• Maintain safety and security of cargo throughout the transport process.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience may be considered.
• Willingness to undergo on‑site training and work at the physical location.
• Ability to work independently and follow safety regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GPS navigation and computer‑based routing tools.
• Vehicle inspection and brake adjustment techniques.
• Emergency roadside repair and basic preventive maintenance.
• Experience with loading, unloading and tarping cargo.
• Operation of straight‑through and articulated trucks.
