Transit Operator – Temporary Positions

About the role

The City of Cornwall is hiring four temporary Transit Operators to support its public transportation network. This position involves driving municipal buses on regular and industrial routes, ensuring safe and reliable service for riders across the community.

Key responsibilities

• Operate transit vehicles safely in accordance with municipal policies, traffic laws, and scheduled routes.
• Provide courteous customer service, assist passengers, and accommodate accessibility needs.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues.
• Monitor route conditions, report delays, hazards, and operational concerns.
• Enforce transit rules, assist with emergency procedures, and maintain accurate service logs.

Required profile

• Valid commercial driver’s licence with appropriate endorsements.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Commitment to safety, punctuality, and reliability.
