Terrestrial Ecologist

About the role

LGL Limited is seeking an Intermediate Terrestrial Ecologist to join its Ontario team. The successful candidate will work on a variety of ecological consulting projects for public and private clients across the Greater Toronto Area and the wider province of Ontario. This role combines field work, data analysis and client‑focused reporting in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement field surveys to assess terrestrial habitats, species composition and ecological conditions.
• Collect, manage and analyse ecological data using appropriate statistical methods.
• Prepare technical reports, scientific summaries and recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
• Support project planning, budgeting and delivery in collaboration with senior scientists and project managers.
• Engage with government agencies, Indigenous communities and industry partners to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to peer‑reviewed publications and internal knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology or a related discipline.
• 2–5 years of professional experience conducting terrestrial ecological assessments.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in field conditions and to travel to remote sites as required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder interaction.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and with Indigenous or governmental partners.
