Job description

About the role

PwC is seeking a Technology Strategy & Transformation Technical Architect, Manager, based in Ottawa. The role sits within the advisory line of service and focuses on technology strategy: analysing market trends and organisational needs, advising on technology investments and initiatives, and aligning technology strategies with business objectives. Candidates are expected to have cross-industry experience, with particular strength in government and public sector.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead parts of business-led, technology-enabled transformation programs centred on users and business outcomes, using Enterprise Architecture methods (e.g. TOGAF ADM) to define current-state, target-state and transition architectures, and agile methods where appropriate.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Enterprise Architecture (business, data, application and technology architecture, and architecture governance), with secondary expertise in target operating model design, concept of operations, technology strategy and agile delivery and coaching.
  • Manage diverse teams and workstreams, contribute to their development and help them reach their potential.
  • Address client needs through critical thinking and problem solving, and guide project direction such as prioritising work packages, allocating resources and scheduling work.
  • Handle multiple concurrent projects while contributing to practice and business development.
  • Translate complex technical solutions to non-technical audiences, including senior executives, and coach peers on performance.
  • Contribute to practice development (new service offerings, training, recruiting, marketing) and business development (proposals, client presentations, RFP responses).

Required profile

  • Deep consulting or industry experience focused on Enterprise Architecture, covering business, data, application, integration, security and technology architecture, plus target operating model design, technology strategy, transformation delivery and agile implementation.
  • TOGAF 9/10 certification, or an equivalent recognised Enterprise Architecture certification, is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM, business or another technical area; an MBA is an asset.
  • Preferred: experience in consulting, professional services or industry, with Public Sector, Telco and Retail experience.

Required skills

  • Application of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and modelling standards such as TOGAF ADM, Zachman, ArchiMate, UML and BPMN, including business capability models, value streams, data models, application portfolios, integration patterns and technology reference architectures.
  • Establishing and running Architecture Review Boards, defining architecture governance, principles, standards and patterns, and managing architecture repositories.
  • Designing and assessing target operating models and concepts of operations, and turning them into architecture and transformation roadmaps.
  • Understanding of cloud and hybrid cloud, API and event-driven integration, microservices, data and analytics platforms, cybersecurity-by-design, AI/ML, automation, BI, blockchain, IoT and other emerging technologies.
  • Developing digital strategies, technology and IT operating models, product roadmaps and implementation roadmaps.
  • Business development experience, including proposal development and RFP participation.

The salary range is $112,400 - $162,400, representing the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres; base salary depends on skills, experience, qualifications and location. Eligible employees may participate in variable incentive pay programs. The position follows the departure of a valued team member.
