Technical Writing Tutor – Remote

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writing Tutor to join the Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform. In this remote role you will provide one‑on‑one online tutoring to students nationwide, helping them master technical communication skills and succeed in their academic courses.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalized, live tutoring sessions on technical writing topics via the Varsity Tutors platform.
• Prepare and adapt lesson materials, including document design, audience analysis, information architecture, and visual‑textual integration.
• Guide students through writing user manuals, SOPs, technical reports, proposals, and online help documentation.
• Utilize the AI‑powered Tutor Copilot to generate lesson content and receive real‑time instructional support.
• Invoice for completed sessions and maintain accurate records of tutoring activity.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of technical document design, audience analysis, information architecture, instructional writing, report formatting, proposal construction, usability testing documentation, and visual communication integration.
• Proven ability to explain clarity principles, active‑voice usage, and formatting standards to undergraduate and professional learners.
• Experience teaching concepts such as document planning, audience‑centered writing, and visual‑textual integration.
• Strong communication skills, friendly and engaging teaching style, and ability to adapt to diverse learning needs.
