Teaching Stream Assistant Professor – Mineral Exploration

About the role

The Earth Sciences Department seeks a Teaching Stream Assistant Professor to join a newly launched fully online professional Master’s program in Mineral Exploration and Resource Management. This three‑year term appointment focuses on delivering graduate‑level courses that apply modern techniques in mineral exploration, resource estimation, mining, beneficiation, and mine waste management.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver postgraduate professional courses in mineral exploration and resource management.
• Develop curriculum and instructional materials aligned with industry standards.
• Mentor early‑career professionals and support their practical learning.
• Contribute to the academic and professional life of the program, including program development and outreach.
• Utilise industry‑standard software tools to illustrate real‑world applications.

Required profile

• PhD in Earth Sciences or a closely related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to applied, practice‑oriented education.
• Strong background applying Earth Sciences to mineral exploration and resource management within the mineral resource industry.
• Willingness to relocate to the Ottawa area at the time of appointment.
