Teaching Assistant for MIDW 106 (GTA 1)

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support the MIDW 106 course in the Midwifery Program. This short‑term position runs from September to December 2026 and involves both virtual and in‑person instructional activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Canvas course site with pre‑readings, links, and resources.
• Assist the instructor during lectures and facilitate in‑class activities.
• Teach and supervise students in virtual and on‑site laboratory sessions.
• Grade quizzes and lab assignments promptly and accurately.
• Respond to student inquiries regarding assignments and provide regular drop‑in support sessions.
• Perform additional tasks related to course delivery as needed.

Required profile

• Background in anatomy and physiology.
• Previous teaching assistant experience, preferably in MEDD 411.
• Availability for 5–10 hours of work per week during the term.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Canvas learning management system.
