About the role
The Talent Acquisition Advisor supports McGill University’s hiring needs by providing expert guidance on recruitment policies and managing end‑to‑end hiring processes for management, professional and administrative positions, both unionized and non‑unionized. Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition, the role partners closely with hiring managers to attract, assess and secure top talent while ensuring compliance with collective agreements and legislation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead full‑cycle recruitment for a variety of roles, from sourcing and screening to interview coordination and offer negotiation.
- Advise hiring managers on workforce planning, job design, and best‑practice recruitment strategies.
- Develop and execute sourcing plans that promote diversity and reach highly qualified candidates.
- Screen applications, conduct interviews, and manage selection processes to ensure fair and efficient hiring decisions.
- Prepare and extend employment offers, handling negotiations and maintaining a positive candidate experience.
- Ensure all recruitment activities comply with internal policies, collective agreements, employment‑equity requirements and relevant legislation.
- Act as subject‑matter expert on talent‑acquisition policies, procedures and tools, providing training and support to internal stakeholders.
- Participate in continuous‑improvement projects to enhance recruitment processes, tools and candidate experience.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience managing full‑cycle recruitment for diverse roles, including unionized positions.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreements and equity hiring practices.
- Excellent advisory and communication skills with the ability to influence hiring managers.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on innovation and process improvement.
